Emi Shop: Complex Recommendation Queries
Timeline: November 2023 – January 2024 & July 2024 – September 2024
While building the initial backend iteration for Emi Shop, I wanted to design a sophisticated product recommendation system. Instead of offloading this entirely to heavy third-party data pipelines, I decided to handle it at the database layer.
I wrote advanced relational schemas and heavy, aggregated queries that blended multiple recommendation strategies.

Since those foundational optimization builds, PostgreSQL has been my default database layer across almost all projects. I rely heavily on the pgvector extension to power AI-driven semantic systems directly within the DB.
